For professors and TAs

Post one code. Your whole section has every date.

Students do not read the syllabus; they read their phone. Upload your syllabus once, get a six-character code, paste it next to the syllabus in Canvas or Blackboard. Anyone in the section taps it and every reading, quiz, exam and deadline lands on their own calendar with reminders. Free for you, and the first class is free for them.

1. Upload the syllabus

PDF, Word or a photo. Classmaite pulls out every dated item and shows you the list to check before anything is shared.

2. Turn on sharing

One toggle gives you a code and a link. Paste it in Canvas, in the syllabus itself, or on the first-day slide.

3. The section joins

Each student copies the class into their own calendar in one tap. You see the join count; nothing about them.

Why this beats “it’s in the syllabus”

The Canvas calendar only shows what you enter into Canvas. The dates students miss are the ones that live only in the PDF: the reading quiz on page 7, the drop deadline, the exam window that moved for a holiday. A shared code puts those on the calendar they already look at, with a reminder before each one, and takes you five minutes once a semester. Fewer “when is this due” emails is the honest pitch.

Coming for spring syllabi

Syllabus Check

Upload a draft syllabus and get back every date a student’s calendar will miss or misread: “week 7” with no date, “TBA”, a Friday with no month, 11:59 pm with no timezone, a date that fell on a holiday. Free, no account. Leave your email and it is yours the week it ships.

Want a hand setting it up for your sections?

Greer, who built this, will upload your syllabi and send you the codes. Say which course and how many sections.

Questions instructors ask

Do my students need an account?

Not to see the dates. The code opens a page with every date from your syllabus and a one-tap copy into their own calendar. Saving it long-term takes a free account; the first class is free.

What if I change a date mid-semester?

Update the class in Classmaite and everyone who joined by code sees the change. Students who exported an .ics file get the change the next time they re-export; Google Calendar sync updates in place.

Does this replace the Canvas calendar?

No. Canvas shows what you type into Canvas. This covers the dates that only live in the syllabus PDF: readings, exam windows, drop deadlines, the participation rule. Most instructors post the code next to the syllabus in Canvas and keep both.

What does it cost?

Nothing for instructors. Students get their first class free and can pay $9 a month for more classes and grade tracking; nothing in the share flow requires that.

Is student data shared with me?

No. You see how many students joined by your code, never who, and never their grades.
